DeLozier had been serving as 8×8’s senior vice president of global channel sales since June 2018.
In a surprising move, value-added distribution giant ScanSource has hired John DeLozier away from 8×8 as president of Intelisys.
In this role, DeLozier will oversee all aspects of the business. That includes sales, supplier services, operations and marketing, with a focus on growth, and enhancing partner and supplier relationships.
He’s been serving as 8×8‘s senior vice president of global channel sales since June 2018.
Mark Morgan, who has been president of Intelisys since February of last year, has now taken the role of president of global business development for ScanSource. He will work across all ScanSource businesses to outline strategic goals. He’ll also serve as a valuable resource for the leadership team, suppliers and partners
DeLozier and Morgan’s roles are effective immediately. Both report directly to John Eldh, ScanSource’s chief revenue officer.
ScanSource, Intelisys Have Long History with DeLozier
“I’m really excited, this is a big move for the company,” DeLozier tells us. “I’m excited because I get to join a company that I’ve been around a long, long time. I’ve known ScanSource for 20 years. It’s fun to come to a place I love so much and that I’ve worked with so often, and in so many different ways with Intelisys, The opportunity to work with both is huge.”
DeLozier said he’s been in the VAR and agency worlds, and understands the differences and similarities, and “that will help as we move forward with the program.”
Moreover, DeLozier said he wants a partner program in place that “excites partners.”
“We want to meet them where they are and get them excited about something only we have, a hybrid distribution strategy,” he said. We’ll tie the businesses together and make it super duper exciting and profitable, and we’ll attack the marketplace.”
DeLozier said it’s a “huge opportunity” to be part of a company and team he believes are “second to none.”
“As I watch ScanSource continue to invest in people, processes and platforms, I’m excited to lead the charge,” he said.
DeLozier has a long history in channel-centric roles, and before 8×8 was CenturyLink‘s senior vice president of strategic partners and alliances. He also spent nearly 20 years at Arrow System Integration, after selling the system integration company he co-founded, ACT, to Cross Telecom, which was later acquired by Arrow Electronics.
DeLozier’s Top Priorities
“Priority 1 is really getting the message to the masses, the partner community, which really hasn’t changed,” DeLozier said. “Nobody has the capability we have. We have to get that message to the partner community, to meet them where they are no matter how they go to market, and make sure they understand that this is a community of services and a platform of opportunity for the channel.”
Priority 2 will be enhancing Intelisys’ partner program to make it “super attractive for partners to do business with Intelisys,” DeLozier said.
“And they know me from the supplier side, so they know good things are coming,” he said.
DeLozier said he and his team are working on a set of goals for Intelisys under his leadership.
“We’ll be sharing a lot of that at Channel Connect coming up (In October in Napa, California),” he said. “We hope and encourage all of our partners to show up because we’ll be sharing this information.”
Morgan Looking Forward to New Role
Morgan said his new role is his “sweet spot” in terms of leadership in the organization. He took the role of president to lead strategy and initiated numerous acquisitions.
“We hired over 50 people last year and put the things in place to strengthen the channel,” he said. “I will be moving back into a strategy role to help them execute on not only day to day, but what we need to be building over the next three to five years to meet the needs of the channel for the future.”
“John is very well known in the industry, has a lot of credibility, and has worked with ScanSource and Intelisys for the past 20 years,” Eldh said. “His knowledge of our business will be a true differentiator for our company. He has a unique blend of leadership [experience], which makes him uniquely qualified to lead Intelisys forward and we’re ecstatic to have him.”
