The holidays are the perfect moment to reconnect with the things that matter most, express gratitude, and give back. This year the Intelisys community came together to transform those good vibes into a joyful reality. Continuing a six-year tradition, Intelisys SVP Rick Ribas and his family organized donations to a toy drive benefitting the patients of Yale New Haven Health Smilow Children’s Cancer Hospital.
We’re incredibly proud to share that this year we donated a total of 504 toys, beating our previous records, and we couldn’t have done it without the generosity and help of our unbeatable partner community. Thank you to everyone who participated! Next year we hope to make that number even higher.
Rick’s personal commitment to the children of Smilow stems from his son’s battle with Burkitt lymphoma, the fastest growing human cancer tumor. For sixth months, Rick and his wife lived at Smilow while their son underwent chemotherapy. During that challenging time, the family made enduring connections with the other children at the hospital. They grew a profound sense of respect for these brave children and the hardships they experience. Thanks to the care provided at Smilow, Rick’s son has been cancer-free for six years. Now, each year, the Ribas family hand deliver gifts to the children at Smilow to help provide a sense of hope and spark a bit of cheer, and we love joining in.
The organizers of the Toy Closet program at Smilow were overjoyed by this year’s generous contribution. Children from ages 3-15 received not only gifts, but lasting memories to help them stay strong throughout the year.
